During her solo journeys, she’s canoed around islands in Thailand, eaten rotten shark & tried glacier hiking in Iceland, tried the authentic sauna in Finland, slept in a haunted castle in Edinburgh, participated in the Carnivale in Venice, got invited for a beer at a police station in Rome, biked up 160 kms into the Highlands, became a friend with a monk in Japan, tried skydiving in France, hitchhiked in Hungary, met an amazing storyteller in Marseille (and fell in love with him! Well that’s another long sappy romantic story:))…and so much more! Thanks to her past experience wandering around the world, she is now fluently in 4 languages (Chinese, English, French, Italian) and some German.

She is ALWAYS curious about the world and she believes “traveling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer”!

DEREK BOIXIERE

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER & CO-FOUNDER

Born in Brittany, Derek grew up with a passion for event organising. When he turned 15 years old, he launched his first music festival, which turned out to an epic financial failure. However, he did let it stop him and he learned from his mistakes. 4 years later, he was managing a program of bi-weekly concerts with over 500 attendees every evening.

He obtained his Master in Event Management in 2003, determined to pursue his management careers in the arts and cultural sector.

Yet, a 6 month internship in accounting in Benin changed his life completely. Derek left home to discover the world. He traveled from one country to another each year, in full immersion with the local people. He went to Latvia, Quebec, India, Burkina Faso, Japan, Greenland, hitchhiked across Europe during 1 year and lived as a street musician.

He returned to Marseille to become a storyteller. In his shows, he told stories about the beauty of the world, and the people he encountered on his journey.

His encounter with Christina was another turning point in his life. In the initial stage, he supported her dream to create a solution that enables more women to travel solo in security. Now, he decided to dedicate himself fully in the project as he really believed in it. Together, as husband and wife, they decided to settle down in Bordeaux – a pleasant city with potential economic development, which to them seems conducive for creating their startup: La Voyageuse.
